How to Install Cathedral Ceiling Insulation?

Cathedral Ceiling Insulation
Cathedral Ceiling Insulation

Commonly found in homes across the city, ceiling insulation in Sydney adds many great benefits to any home in which it is installed. A great choice for this application, Foilboard Cathedral Ceiling Insulation, requires a very small investment in comparison to the long term return it brings with it. Because heat tends to mostly escape through the roof and then get stored in the ceiling cavity, it is important to make sure that this area is well insulated. If you are planning on fitting Foilboard Cathedral Ceiling Insulation in your home, here is a short guide on how to do so, from the team at Foilboard:

  1. Post installation of ceiling battens to the top of the rafters at between 600-1200mm centres, and measure the gaps between the rafters.
  2. Mark the measurement on the insulation panel.
  3. Now, cut the sheet using a snap blade knife, or something similar, in a horizontal position.
  4. Position the sheet in between the rafters to the underside of battens, no greater than 1200mm apart.
  5. Roll reflective sarking over the top of the battens to create additional reflective airspace above the insulation.
  6. Finally, fix roofing to battens.

Foilboard Cathedral Ceiling Insulation should be installed with air spaces above and below, in order to increase the R value of the system. Tape up any gaps or use a water based sealant to restrict air leakage. For exposed applications, all penetrations must be sealed in an effective way to reduce any risk of damage caused by possible exposure to extreme radiant heat.
